The '05 Season Officially Ends...for me
I pulled the bike off the car last night to hang it up for the '05 season. I'll probably leave it there until November. So why do we have such a small turnout at the DMV? I know it's the end of the season, but it just hasn't been well attended this year. Gary gave us the rundown last night. The A-flite typically was around 16 guys, with a low of 9(last night) and a high of 22. The B-flite has such a bigger turnout this year. There were a few nights where more than 30 guys lined up. I'm recruiting here...come out to the DMV next year! It is so much harder on the nights with 9 guys racing. We need 20 to 30 guys in the A-flite. Look...I'm already thinking about next year. Pathetic. Last night, Mitch(Miatchaslav) and I sat down on the curb to watch part of the B-flite race while partaking in the ceremonial beverage after a victory. We left a little on the pavement for our missing comrades...Bill(#1), Thomas(T$), Mike(hmmm...not sure)...while going over the season. Winning the #1 plate again this year came down to some serious effort. There was some big sacrifice thrown down by the team to make sure we pulled off the repeat. I do believe this puts the #1 plate on one of our bikes for 5 years now.
Speaking of news for next year...Canyon Squadra Elite is no longer. The new incarnation will supply the requisite amount of evil however. We will be racing with the X-Men as our base club and the squad rounds out with Mike Hanseen, T$, Miatchaslav, and me. Watch out, because T$ will be back going strong, Hanseen gets tougher each time he rides his bike, and let me ask you this...have you ever tried to hold Miatch's wheel when he decides to sprint? Yes, the squad will be back shooting for the #1 individual and #1 team. We had to let the #1 team title slide this year, but we will be back after it next year.
This entry sure seems like a lot of rambling. I haven't had that much beer in one evening for quite a while, and I'm still clouded this morning. Not only did I partake in the ceremonial beverage immediately post-race, I grabbed a few more to put away at home. I hoped Dona would have one since she is the force behind me racing. She definitely made it happen this year, speaking of sacrifices. I have to say I'm very lucky.
