Stinking Tour!!!!!
The attempt was made last night to avoid having to watch Tour coverage from 10:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Sadly, watching the video tape recording from the 6:30 a.m. broadcast didn’t help much. We ended up watching Freire’s sprint at about 11:50 p.m. Between talking to family and friends via phone and the kids, the fast-forwarding through commercials only saved us 40 minutes. At that time of night, you just don’t get enough rest especially when the doggies decide they want to get up and do their business at 5:30-5:40 a.m. every morning. They immediately lay back down and go to sleep. At least I’m ready to start recording the 6:30 a.m. Tour coverage so we can wash, rinse, and repeat that night.
Two other events last night went well. The Saltair TT was nice and windy. J-Lao came out to do his trademark double effort in which he ended up beating me with both. Ouch. Maybe I should start doing that and see if I can speed things up. So far my times this year are: 14:01; 14:25; 14:11; 14:14. They aren’t bad times, but I’ve been posting times like these for two years. Last year I set my fastest time at 13:53. I would like to beat it sometime.
I’ve got to figure out what The Claw is doing to make it happen. As I mentioned two weeks ago he set a new personal best. Well, last night he did it again. Remember that this is post-injury, a bad crash that resulted in broken ribs. He did his first stage race post-injury at Gate City Grind and finished 2nd in the 45+. Watch out for The Claw and his Zabriskie-mobile.
The other event was J-dorade’s swim meet. D-ozza kept adding her to as many events as had open lanes and she ended up lighting things up. Just like The Claw, J-dorade had set new personal best times last week and she did it again last night. I need to kick it and catch up with these two!
