Burning rubber on the quarter-mile/Contest Winners

I did my usual Tuesday afternoon routine and was pulling into the parking lot at the RMR at 4:55 p.m. to find a line-up of street drag racers lined up to burn rubber down the drag strip. I was thinking how stupid I was for coming out here on the wrong night until one of the RMR officials at the gate flagged me over and asked if I wanted to take my chances on the quarter-mile. I thought about entering the Honda with the bike on the roof rack but then figured I wouldn’t patch enough rubber down on the track to even make it worth it. He said we were cancelled and that the oval had a car show.

I was all ready to rumble, so I called AJ and Anheuser and told them to drive out and we’d do a Saltair loop. Soon, many other riders showed up and we were set for a group ride. It was super windy as we headed out on the 21st south highway and it was only a matter of time before things started to light up. Turns out we had a great ride and didn’t even get rained on.

It’s game on for the DMV as far as I can tell tonight. I could tell Stormin’ is all worked up about the DMV lately. He even told me I looked skinny last Saturday. Unfortunately, I didn’t feel skinny. Good thing the DMV hill is not one for being skinny. It would be pretty funny if we showed up at the DMV tonight and they were having a special event, like “Bring your spouse to work to drive the test course” and they called us off.

So, I just remembered that we had some contests going and prizes need to be awarded. I’m hoping the A-train doesn’t need those used Eggbeater cleats for a while since he’s in Texass. Here are the results:

“Throw down your best” Contest Winner: Roadirt gave us some great expletive replacements and takes home the salt-corroded Yakima fork mount skewers.

“Will Astana-Wurth race the Tour/Prologue placings” Contest Winner: This contest was difficult to judge. However, after numerous votes, a fist fight between judges, and finally a tie-breaking vote by arm-wrestling, the winner was decided to be ET01. ET01 will be taking home the coveted used Michelin Pro Race with approx. 1800 miles.

Thanks for your contest participation. We’ll be back with more contests soon.
