No coffee beans this morning…

Bella woke up this morning at about 5:10am. Or was it Rocco going ape because he saw a bird on the fence. It doesn’t really matter, it was 5:10, 15 minutes prior to the alarm. We don’t really need to set an alarm since the almighty dogs wake up regularly between 5:05 and 5:40. D-oza works starting at 6:00am, so I thought I’d get the coffee brewing. To my shock and horror when I maladroitly opened the cupboard due to the hour, there was a nearly empty bag of coffee beans.

It happened to be the coffee beans awarded to me at the UCA Climber’s Cup race. You see, Brother Gallagher (who I heard lit it up doing some cyclocross damage over the weekend) felt like he should put up a special award for the “sprinter” who shows up for a hillclimb. Just to let you know, this motivated me to return to the fruit juice diet for the month of October. One nagging question needs to be answered: are hops a fruit? Before long I will be lighting it up at just over a buck 50.

I tried to figure out a substitute for the coffee this morning, and there was really nothing all that great. I did buy some black tea a while back when I was going to cut back on coffee and I dug it out still unopened. It’s not bad, but it’s not coffee.

J-dorade and J-vanator are back to swim team practicing. They are both lighting it up. J-vanator is still in the “young” group and is scheduled to practice for an hour, but he works it with the big kids and goes the full 90 minutes. D-oza took some sweet pictures of the kids in action, so I’ll have to post some. J-dorade is on a blistering pace to continually beat her 1-mile pace. Her P.E. teacher motivates her a lot and it shows. She’s cut nearly a minute off of her time since school started. She is all kinds of focused. Her school work is also amazing. We had the first parent-teacher conference and the girl has straight As and the teachers say they wish they had a classroom full of J-dorades. J-vanator has his parent-teacher conference showdown next week.

The song of the week has to be “Jesus Loves You” by The Causey Way. Coming in a close second place is “Chase the Devil” by Eagles of Death Metal. The podium is rounded out by “Devil’s Playground” by Gram Rabbit. Once again, Jesus kicked some serious demon ***.
