Straight Outta PROvo...

Blogging is so '06. Blog-quitting is this years' blogging.
Lotoja
206 miles- Logan, UT to Jackson Hole, WY Well, supposedly 206 miles. This is a pretty wild event, but not really my style. Only 20 guys rode the Pro 1/2 (one half??) race, which is not many for such a long deal. They should run all (or at least most of) the USCF categories together, so I have a place to hide. Anyway, things start off ok. Nate and AB (teammates) get into the early move and get out to a small gap (15 minutes or some-such, unreal, huh??). Anyway, the field is going slower than a turtle on it's back the first couple hours. Then, it starts raining. Then, we start climbing. Rain turns to freezing rain. Freezing rain, turns to snow. Snow turns to blizzard... You get the idea. I am cool on the climb, but feel good. Then, we start descending. Not good anymore. I look around at the guys in my group when we get to the valley floor. No one looks good. Gardie (my teammate who I drove with) is shaking really violently, like he can't control his bike. We cruise to the feedzone, where we both quit. It takes a long time to get warm. The sign right before the feed zone said 130 miles to Jackson. No dice. I didn't give it a second thought; mainly because I was too cold to think... Big ups to anyone who actually rode this thing out. I think the winner's time was around 10 hours!! That is a ridiculous amount of time to be on a bicycle.
