Sick as a dog that is sick, Gate City, My Heroes, The dope in Spain falls mostly in the veins
So, Saturday I went for a ride in the mountains, up to the top of Alpine Loop, back down South Fork, Squaw Peak... 4 hours, standard stuff. The last 45 minutes or so, I was worked, but just figured I didn't eat enough. Then, I got home and just didn't recover. That night, I couldn't sleep and went through all this weird "hot. cold. hot. cold" stuff. Sunday morning I felt like complete ass and could hardly haul myself out of bed. I am coming around today, but still not that great. I don't know what it was. Maybe heat exhaustion, but I didn't do anything out of the ordinary, and it wasn't that much hotter than usual.
I have really been on the fence about Gate City this weekend, but I think I am going to have to bail. Kelly is telling me to go, but I would feel not so good if she had the kid while I was off playing bikes. I may yet change my mind again, however.
My hero Tony Cruz won Tour de Nez. Burke is my other hero. Actually, I have lots of heroes.
It seems like pretty much every ProTour rider is implicated in the "Puerto Operation" now. Even Jan "Son of Rudy" Ullrich. I thought he was pretty much untouchable. I thought the rider's showed some nerve refusing to contest their national championships because of the investigation. I am sure some more money will be leaving the sport soon, but I think it's good. The dude that won the French championships said Spain was going through the same thing they did in '98. Maybe we'll see a French guy do something again sometime soon.
Then again, maybe not.
