Straight Outta PROvo...

Blogging is so '06. Blog-quitting is this years' blogging.
Why I Didn't Ride Gap (Not that I need to explain myself to the likes of you) and whatever else I feel like rambling about...

So yeah, Bjurke, and Hardwood have both bemoaned by blog the lack of riders at the Giz-ap this weekend, and Toddy Potty asked about it on the UCA forums.  So here's my reasons (ie- excuses) for not going a) Planning on doing the non-existent XXXterra Crit b) The out-laws are returning to the winter home in CA, and I had to help them move furniture (fun, fun).  No, they are not really loaded.  Kelly's dad is a teacher and had to get back for work.c) The travel to potential profit ratio was inversely proportioned.  d) I wanted to hang out with my girls.

I did a chunk of the Ulcer route on Saturday.  I didn't pay, but I didn't use any of the facilities, food, etc either, so I figured I was just going for a ride and there were a lot of other people out riding.  Couldn't man up for a $45 entry or get to the start on time, so we left from my house.  We cut it pretty short, and then Sleevie and I rode up to Sundance where he treated me to a romantic, er, I mean, purely platonic business luncheon.  Rolled home and I had 105 miles, putting Sleevie who rode to and from mi casa at ~125.  He was last heard asking if I wanted to "rally" the Nebo Loop from my house the following day, another 120+ mile deal.  I politely declined to do that 30K biz-nitch again.  For sure, the Sleevie likes to go big.

Actually, I haven't touched the pony (the bike, not middle school lingo) since.  Hopefully, I'll bail early since I am clearly working hard (on the blog) and take the Haley-bird out in the trailer.  The sad part is this is probably the most productive work day I've had all summer.  Wait, that isn't sad.  That's good.  I seem to have lost the ability to think without actually typing.

So, my once upon a time teammate Hilton Clarke won the Pro Crit Champs on Sunday.  I would say I probably haven't always been his biggest fan, but um, yeah, the dude is rolling.  He won both of the fat cash crits in Illinois the weekend before, so I think this puts him around the $50K prize money mark for the past two weekends.  Ummm, yeah, that's pretty good.  Once, I made $800/hr. riding my bike, but it was only for 1 hour and probably doesn't include the 15 years of previous training time, which we could break down to around .00000231 cents/hour.  Still, I will have to tell that story sometime as it was pretty cool.

On a less fortunate note, my man Tony Cruz came up 2nd in the best American contest (3rd overall), which means he didn't get a new shirt out of the deal, which is a shame.

So, who won Tour of Gap anyway?  I got the feeling that it was Burzurker from the Hardwood Journal, but would like confirmation.  Maybe that is the UCA ticket to getting people to go to races.  "Ya gotta show, it you wanna know...who wins".  I could use a touch of help with the rhyming.

Alright, on to something else then.

That out of town guy must be pretty tough.
Thanks to DH for responding and to the bird- you are my hero.

Sleevie asked that I update and let the world know that he did not stop at "merely" 125 miles on Saturday, but went ahead and made it an even 150.  He later found out he was not on the start list for Lotoja and cried.  Don't worry Sleevie, RAAM is only like 10 months away.

Correction needed on the stage 2 winner...it was none other than Flynnard, not "out of town guy" aka Randy Richter, and yes, he was tough!

Sorry on the Stage 2 incorrect report. Now that I'm reminded, Flynnard lit it up and sprinted great even after lapping the pack. I think I maybe had too many Red Bulls pre-race...
