What I Learned in Sunday School...
It turns out you can judge a book by it's cover.
So, I went to church Sunday like a good boy scout. I go most of the time because I like it. If I miss it, I don't feel guilty or think I've done anything wrong. Anyway, we had a Sunday school teacher who I've never been stoked about any of the lessons she presents. During yesterday's lesson she asks,
"Can you tell by looking at someone what kind of person they are?"
In my head, I'm going "ummm, no."
Her answer,
"Yes, if you have the spririt, you can tell when someone is an evil person".
I didn't argue (and I can't believe no one else said anything either) because I guess I was flabbergasted. I wonder what she would think if she saw Sleevie walking down the street. Because I gotta tell ya, he is an incredibly awesome spirit.
It's days like this, I am really glad I didn't bring a "guest" with me because I would be totally embarassed by the holier-than-thou attitude of some people.
Later we discussed how bathing suits are inappropriate at the beach...Excuse me? Yes, and a "good mormon girl will cover her eyes" at what others wear on the beach. And how three year olds should not have their shoulders showing. Now, I do believe in modesty and you know you don't need to get all "Girls Gone Wild", but I am not a puritan. The days of prairie dresses are over, unless you're in Colorado City, and it ain't looking that great there either.
Like I said, I enjoy church. Sometimes to change my beliefs, sometimes to reinforce them, and sometimes to pinpoint exactly what I don't believe.
