What's Really Going On This Weekend...
Ok, this is final. Unless something changes, of course. Dad is coming into town on Friday night. First time meeting the grandkids. About time. I could get into the semi-strained relationship with dear old dad, but that is a torture I'd rather not inflict on the readership at this juncture. I'll drag Pops to cub scouts that night. Have I mentioned I am a cub scout leader? Yeah, that's a new role for me, and we've had pretty much 1 kid show up each time. It is hard to plan activities for 1 kid.
Saturday I will be working (it) at the Bikes 4 Kids event in Murray. This is pretty darn cool event, even if I'd rather be throwing down for AB. Yeah, I'll bring Dad with me here too. Keeping the old guy busy you see.
Yeah, the AB Crit is officially cancelled, at least for this week. I want our team to take ownership of it next year and produce a really quality event in his honor. This will be kinda like "putting my money where my mouth is" for the "Things I'd Like to See" post. Or maybe putting my mouth where the money is? Wait, that sounds bad. Probably it'll be mostly like putting my foot in my mouth. Anyway, it sucks that it's called, especially given the bad taste in my mouth (there I go again) regarding last weekend. I hate to drag that kind of bitterness into the "off" season. Yeah, alright I love it, but I'd still rather race.
Sunday at noon and this is official, or as official as an unofficial deal can be: Noon o'clock ride up Emmigration. Again, totally unsanctioned and go at your own pace. Mine will not be fast as dear old dad doesn't ride at all and yeah, he's going to that day, if I haven't already cracked him enough to hop on the first bird back to RVA. I'll be pulling Haley too.
There's probably more stuff going on in the world, but that probably pretty well covers me for the weekend.
